Hot yoga, also called Bikram yoga, is basically a series of yogic sequences and postures performed in a warm and humid location. The exercises vary from standing practices to mat stretching, depending on how the yoga classes are performed. When exercise and meditation is done in a hot environment, the heat enhances the muscles’ endurance during stretching. It provides greater range of movement in the supporting structures of the body, which makes the body more flexible. This makes the individual less likely to experience limbic and muscular injury. Apart from that, hot yoga stimulates the excretory system, thus helping in cleansing the body. Heat helps in the detoxification of the body because of the expulsion of sweat.
Yoga’s primary goal for the individual is to be able to achieve inner peace and a sound mind. Many medical practitioners, though, present evidence of medical benefits derived from yoga, much more so with hot yoga. Some of the many benefits of hot yoga aside from detoxification include improved metabolism and better cardiovascular health. When blood circulation improves, blood flow and oxygen movement in the body cells also improve. This process aids in faster and better metabolism and this is especially good news for those who want to lose weight. Better metabolism means better nutrient absorption and breakdown of fatty acids.
Aside from that, another benefit of hot yoga is that the cardiovascular system gets a boost and a thorough workout due to the breathing exercises. Better flow of air to the lungs spells out prevention of asthma or breathing issues. What’s more, hot yoga assists the immune system because the raised temperature in the room will enable better T-cell function and the body’s action to fight infection.
